  • Congratulations to the Shiloh Elementary Cafeteria team for winning the North Carolina Child Nutrition Services' Award for Excellence for 2010-2011.

  • Wesley Chapel's PTO provides funds for students to have a monthly gift of literacy. Each month all the teachers in the school receive a gift book carefully chosen by the administration and the literacy facilitator. The books are used as read-alouds in the classroom, then retired to the classroom libraries for student use.

  • Rea View Principal Donna Cook was chosen as the 2011-12 Union County Public Schools Principal of the Year.

Teacher Recognized Twice in One Day

Ms. Dawn Moretz, our drama teacher at BHESA’s received an unexpected but very welcomed surprise. On Wednesday, November 9, 2011 Union Power Cooperative presented her with a "Bright Ideas" grant for this year. Ms. Moretz submitted a project idea using the concepts of shadow puppetry. The students will use 21st century skills listening, brainstorming and problem-solving) as they develop puppets and scripts to perform shows with. The performances will be about multicultural folktales which fit BHESA's globalization initiatives. This grant was a perfect fit with our school’s philosophy to teach the core subjects, including literacy and science via the fine arts.

From Tokyo to Wesley Chapel; Kindergartners welcome pen pal letters from Japan

Kindergartners from Wesley Chapel Elementary School are taking part in a learning experience that reaches halfway across the world.

Students from Debbie Baker’s class recently received the first packet of pen pal letters from students of the International School of the Sacred Heart in Tokyo.
